'Walking in Dorking' Deepdene Trail - Confirmation of Booking

We look forward to welcoming you to 'Walking in Dorking'!

  • Please do not attend the walk if you have any symptoms of Covid-19. Walk numbers are limited at this time, so if possible please email to let us know in advance if you need to cancel your place.
  • If you show any symptoms of Covid-19 whilst on the walk you will need to leave the walk immediately.

Take a walk through the grounds of the Deepdene accompanied by Dorking Museum's knowledgeable guides to learn the fascinating history of the estate. This 90 minute stroll through the gardens will introduce many of the colourful characters associated with the estate. The walk is led at a comfortable pace, to accommodate all abilities. We recommend allowing extra time just in case the tour takes longer.

Hear about the "Drunken Duke", the Hope Diamond, another Duke wrong-footed by his "giddy and unfaithful wife" and the squandering of an inheritance.  The tour will include the grotto, the Embattled Tower and the WWII fortifications, with a secret beneath, before walking to the Terrace and a visit inside the Mausoleum. The visit ends with the option of tea, or something stronger, at Dorking Golf Club.

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Children under 12 go free!

Parking: For the Museum’s guided tours parking is available at Dorking Golf Club (postcode RH5 4BX - what3words ///deep.apples.deeper), situated on the southbound carriageway of the A24 approximately 0.9 miles south of the Dorking’s Cockerel roundabout.
